COLUMBUS, GA, February 7, 2012. The Federal Optometric Society announced today the appointment of three additional doctors to its board of directors. Joining the board are Dr. Weilun Hsu, O.D., M.S., F.A.A.O. of San Antonio, TX, Dr. Chad Gosnell, O.D. of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Dr. Robert Kesead, OD of Parker, AZ. Federal Optometric Society Executive Director, Dr. James Auvil stated, “I’m excited to have these three accomplished and inspired leaders join the FOS governing board. They not only reflect the growing numbers of Air Force, IHS and USPHS optometrists joining the FOS, but they match the energy and excitement of those who are joining optometry’s newest organization.”

The FOS also announced the resignation of one of its initial directors, Dr. Anthony Jarecke, O.D., M.B.A., F.A.A.O. Dr. Auvil stated, “Good news sometimes comes with bad news, and I regret having to report this news. Dr. Jarecke’s resignation came as a surprise, and I will dearly miss his wise counsel. His contributions to this organization in the critical early stages were extraordinarily valuable and the FOS wouldn’t be where it is today without him.” Dr. Jarecke remains an active member of the FOS and merely removed himself from a leadership position within the organization.

The FOS is currently planning mentorship and professional education topics, which are posted on the organization’s website ( Continuing education topics are still being developed pending feedback from the FOS members.
